黃維垣 有機(jī)化學(xué)家，1921年12月15 生于福建莆田。 1943 年獲福建協(xié)和大學(xué)理學(xué)士學(xué)位。 1949 年獲廣州嶺南大學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。 1952 年獲美國哈佛大學(xué)化學(xué)系哲學(xué)博士學(xué)位。1952----1955 年美國哈佛大學(xué)化學(xué)系博士后。 1955 年至今在中國科學(xué)院上海有機(jī)化學(xué)研究所工作，歷任副研究員、研究員、副所長、所長，中國科學(xué)院上海分院副院長，中國化學(xué)會理事長，國際純粹與應(yīng)用化學(xué)協(xié)會理事等。1980年當(dāng)選為中國科學(xué)院院士( 學(xué)部委員 )。
黃維垣在美國及回國初期，從事甾體類天然產(chǎn)物化學(xué)研究，在甾體合成和甾體立體化學(xué)領(lǐng)域中作出了貢獻(xiàn)。1958 年以后,根據(jù)國防建設(shè)的需要，在中國相繼開展了有機(jī)硼化學(xué)和有機(jī)氟化學(xué)的研究，是中國有機(jī)氟化學(xué)的主要開拓人之一。他創(chuàng)建了有機(jī)氟化學(xué)研究室，研制成功氟塑料、氟油、含氟表面活性劑、氟碳代血液等一系列含氟材料，為中國有機(jī)氟化學(xué)工業(yè)奠定了堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)，其中：全氟潤滑油獲得國家發(fā)明證書，為中國鈾同位素分離提供了關(guān)鍵材料；新型鉻霧抑制劑獲國家發(fā)明獎三等獎，為鍍鉻工人的身體健康和環(huán)境保護(hù)作出貢獻(xiàn)；氟碳代血液獲中國科學(xué)院科技進(jìn)步獎一等獎，曾被用于戰(zhàn)爭中的傷員搶救手術(shù)，并在醫(yī)院臨床和臟器的保存中得到實(shí)際應(yīng)用。
與此同時，黃維垣在有機(jī)氟化學(xué)的基礎(chǔ)研究領(lǐng)域中也取得了重要的成就，在國際上享有很高的聲譽(yù)。他發(fā)現(xiàn)的“亞磺化脫鹵反應(yīng)”可以在溫和的條件下將全氟鹵代烷轉(zhuǎn)化成相應(yīng)的亞磺酸鹽，進(jìn)而可以方便地得到全氟烷基羧酸、磺酸、磺酰鹵等一系列重要的含氟有機(jī)原料；在此基礎(chǔ)上，他對全氟烷基亞磺酸鹽和磺酰鹵的化學(xué)以及全氟烷基自由基化學(xué)進(jìn)行了深入系統(tǒng)的研究，發(fā)展出許多有效的全氟烷基化方法，成功地應(yīng)用于各類含氟有機(jī)化合物，特別是含氟雜環(huán)化合物的合成，極大地推動了有機(jī)氟化學(xué)的發(fā)展，進(jìn)一步豐富了雜環(huán)化學(xué)和物理有機(jī)化學(xué)的內(nèi)容。在他的帶領(lǐng)下，中國的氟化學(xué)研究在一片空白的情況下只經(jīng)過短短幾十年就趕上了世界少數(shù)幾個發(fā)達(dá)國家，上海有機(jī)化學(xué)研究所被國外同行譽(yù)為世界上最重要的有機(jī)氟化學(xué)研究中心之一。為表彰他對氟化學(xué)研究所作出的杰出貢獻(xiàn)，在1986年法國巴黎舉辦的氟元素發(fā)現(xiàn)100周年紀(jì)念會上，他被授予“MOISSAN”獎?wù)隆?/p>
黃維垣共發(fā)表研究論文190余篇，他的甾體化學(xué)和新發(fā)現(xiàn)的亞磺化脫鹵反應(yīng)兩項(xiàng)成果先后獲得國家自然科學(xué)獎二等獎。
黃維垣長期擔(dān)任國務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會委員和中國科學(xué)院上海有機(jī)化學(xué)研究所學(xué)位委員會主任，對于中國研究生制度的建設(shè)，特別是上海有機(jī)化學(xué)研究所的研究生培養(yǎng)工作發(fā)揮了的作用。他自己已為國家培養(yǎng)了21位博士和29名碩士。
黃維垣長期擔(dān)任《化學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)》主編，并創(chuàng)辦了《 Chinese Journal of Chemistry 》刊物，為中國化學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)刊物的發(fā)展作出了重要貢獻(xiàn)。
